An excerpt from Dollhouse Downfall:
Wolf in Sheep’s Wool
True monsters hurt those who have hurt none.
They create an enemy,
put on sheep’s wool clothing,
and bleat away about how they had just seen a wolf.
This disguise conceals the truth. True monsters twist the truth’s core
to reveal something red and pulsing. It is living, it can feel pain.
They begin the war against the wolf, telling stories of its mangy and corpse-like body.
It’s ferocious howl, it can be heard if you listen at the right time of night..
It lurks around late to turn children into their victims.
But true monsters are those who hurt those who have nothing.
It’s all a game.
True monsters hurt those who are already in pain.
They create an automatic response in your brain, to be accustomed to the fear.
You better run, I hear the monsters behind, in my ears:
It’s all a game, hide from the sick.
From the poor,
From the ugly, From the loud, from the dicks.
from the roars
of wolves being held in cages,
Hide from the ones we believe belong in graves.
The world is full of monsters.
Maybe there is something worse at stake.
Howl, hide from what is fake.
